Almus Dam Lake, which is also important today as a trout farming area, was constructed as a zoned earth fill type dam where the Yeşilırmak River makes a slight bend and enters the Omala Plain gorge. The area around the dam is covered with forest. There are numerous bays along the shore. The lake is an ideal course for water sports.
