Ali Pasha Mosque is located in the city square of Tokat and is known as the mosque with the longest history in the province. Built in 1572 during the reign of Selim II, the mosque has a centuries old tree in front of it. Due to financial problems that arose after Ali Pasha's death near the completion of the mosque, although it was planned to close the last prayer area with a second tier from the outside, as can be understood from the wall remnants on the east and west sides, this was abandoned. Also, for the same reason, a more modest wooden fountain was built in the courtyard according to the means of the time, so Tokat became the only place with a wooden fountain from the 16th century that has survived to the present day with its original decorations.[1]
