Balıklıgöl is 150 meters long and 30 meters wide. Its depth is around 3-5 meters. It contains carp, a species of fish that is the subject of legends. These fish are respected by the locals and are not eaten. According to legend, after Prophet Abraham was thrown into the fire, a miracle occurred, and the surroundings became a garden of roses. It is believed that the place where this miracle took place is Balıklıgöl and its surroundings. It reaches its highest number of visitors during religious holidays, Mevlid (the Prophet's birthday), and Kandil (a religious observance). The cave where Prophet Abraham was born is also located on the Balıklıgöl Plateau. The cave where Prophet Abraham, considered the ancestor of the three Abrahamic religions, was born is never without visitors. Visitors from all religions, countries, and cities visit this cave in every season of the year. Right next to the cave where Prophet Abraham was born is also the tomb where Bediüzzaman Said Nursi, a religious scholar of his time, was first buried after his death.
