The Green Tomb was built in 1421 by Mehmet Çelebi, the son of Bayezid I. Part of the Green Complex, its architect was Hacı İvaz Paşa. The structure, which has become a symbol of Bursa, is located in a position visible from all parts of the city. Mehmed I had the tomb built during his lifetime and died 40 days later. The tomb contains a total of 9 sarcophagi belonging to Çelebi Sultan Mehmet, his sons Şehzade Mustafa, Mahmut and Yusuf, his daughters Selçuk Hatun, Sitti Hatun, Hafsa Hatun, Ayşe Hatun, and his wet nurse Daya Hatun.
