Kackar Plateau

Kaçkar Plateau and Kaçkar Mountains - Kaçkar Tourism Center: Located between Rize and Yusufeli, the Kaçkar Mountains, with their sharp glaciers visible year round, azure lakes, forests in every shade of green, exuberant streams, and diverse plant and animal life, resemble a natural park. The highest peak of the Kaçkar Mountains is Kavron (3932 m). Easily accessible via the southern route, the Kaçkar Mountains are visited by hundreds of mountaineers every year. If there is no fog, you can enjoy the magnificent view of the Eastern Black Sea mountains. While climbing the mountain is relatively easy in the summer months, it is much more difficult in the winter. In winter, snow fills the valleys, covers the plateaus, and destroys houses. Furthermore, the slope of the glaciers is always prone to avalanches. June and September are the best months for summer climbs, while February and March are ideal for winter climbs.
