Kula is one of our areas with an impressive natural and cultural heritage with its prehistoric human footprints, the ruins of the ancient city of Thermae Theseos, which benefited from geothermal waters, volcanic formations of geological and geomorphological value, and fairy chimneys that present a mystical structure. The Burgaz Volcanic Region, where the fairy chimneys are located, is located in the northeast between Burgaz village and the Gediz River. The thickness of the basalt lava on the surface of this plateau reaches 30-40 meters in places. The lava flowing over fluvial sediments has created a red colored firing zone in the clayey silty sections. The plateau is surrounded on all sides by a steepness reaching 100 meters. Below this steep zone are fairy chimneys and badland formations. The fairy chimneys are a visual spectacle of landscape architecture, with ancient sediments at the bottom and basalts from the original eruption above them. The ancient sediments on either side of the valley have formed extraordinary shapes under the influence of rainwater and wind. The area where the valley slope continues is one of our most popular photo safari destinations, especially for photographers.
