The Malabadi Bridge, located in the Silvan district of Diyarbakır, is the stone bridge with the widest arch span in Turkey and the Near East. The bridge was built in 1147 by the Artuklu ruler Hüsamettin Timurtaş. However, an older bridge, constructed during the Mervanid period (992-1085), previously stood on the same site. This older bridge was destroyed over time and has not survived to the present day.
