Museum of Islamic Civilizations

Built within the framework of ideas, science, and art stemming from the Islamic value system derived from the Quran, the book of Allah, and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Islamic civilization has, over centuries, produced institutions with global influence and a magnificent historical legacy. Turkey, influenced by the Seljuk and Ottoman periods spanning over a thousand years, occupies a remarkably rich position in terms of the works created by this ancient Islamic civilization. In addition to the magnificent examples of Islamic architecture found in every corner of Anatolia today, institutions that are the product of the Turkish Islamic experience have ensured the rooting of Islamic civilization in our country; the cultural and artistic works created over the centuries have reached us today as Ottoman heritage in many cities of our country, especially Istanbul. Thousands of artifacts belonging to Islamic civilization await to be seen by local and foreign visitors in the storage facilities of our country's museums, as well as in their open to the public spaces. The Islamic Civilizations Museum project emerged from the idea of bringing this rich heritage of Islamic artifacts to a wider audience by combining contemporary museology techniques and technology.
