Located opposite the Murad II Complex in the Muradiye district, the wooden house is thought to have once housed a mansion belonging to Sultan Murad II. Consequently, it is also known as the birthplace of Mehmed the Conqueror, the conqueror of Istanbul. The two story house, now a museum, exhibits 17th century characteristics in its plan and decoration, making it one of the oldest surviving houses in Bursa. Consisting of an iwaned hall opening onto the garden and two rooms, the lower floor rooms are low ceilinged winter rooms. In the upper floor, the "main room," a magnificent wooden wardrobe decorated with hand carved plant and flower motifs, a geometrically decorated wooden ceiling, and a hexagonal ceiling spire all display the beauty and characteristic features of 17th century decoration. The museum building, which consists of three floors (basement, ground, and first), has a fountain with a marble trough in the courtyard, set in cut stone. A wooden staircase leads to the ground floor, which features a large hall with wooden railings and a bedroom on either side. The first floor, accessed by a wooden staircase, houses the guest lounge, dining room, and harem rooms. The Ottoman House Museum is a work of art created by Bursa masters.
