The Sille region has been inhabited from the Phrygian era to the present day and has been an important settlement since the Byzantine period. It is one of the first centers of early Christianity and an important resting point on the pilgrimage route between Istanbul and Jerusalem. It is known that in the early years of Christianity, the apostles Saint Paul and his companions came to Konya, tried to spread their religion, and retreated to the mountains around Sille due to persecution.
