It is a historical educational institution considered the oldest Turkish Islamic university in Anatolia, built in the 12th century during the Danishmend dynasty. Built by the Danishmend Emir Nizamettin Yağıbasan, there are two such structures in Anatolia. Construction Date: The one in Tokat dates back to 1151-1152, and the one in Niksar to 1157-1158. Architectural First: It is one of the first examples of a madrasa with a central dome and a closed courtyard built in the Islamic world. Education: During its time, it was an advanced educational center where religious sciences as well as positive sciences such as medicine, mathematics, astronomy, and philosophy were taught.
