Overview

Munzur Valley National Park is one of the most exceptional corners of our country, with its rich natural resources including rivers and springs, endemic plant species, and unique animal species, as well as its rich vegetation and wildlife. The rare trout species endemic to the region, which are widespread and abundant in the Munzur River and Mercan Stream, two species of mountain goats known as the mountain goat and the hooked horned mountain goat, and the rock partridge among the game birds, constitute the unique values of the region's wildlife. The unique natural scenery and all wildlife can be easily observed in every corner of the national park. The flora of Munzur Valley National Park, which is very rich in vegetation, has 1518 different plant species identified, 43 of which are endemic to the Munzur Mountains and 227 are endemic to Turkey. The dominant tree species in the national park is oak and its various types. The hills and slopes that are not rocky are covered with oak forests. The valley floor and waterways have a rich vegetation consisting of a mixture of elm, maple, ash, plane tree, vine, birch, walnut, wild hazelnut, poplar, willow, and shrub species. The National Park is home to wolves, foxes, martens, bears, lynxes, otters, badgers, squirrels, rabbits, wild boars, and wild goats. The brown bear, which lives in caves and rock crevices, is one of the important large mammals of Munzur wildlife.
