During the Artukid period, it was converted into a bathhouse with the addition of a domed section on the western side. According to sources, the original structure was a Roman building, and it is suggested that it was later converted into a church. The church, which lacks an inscription, is dated to the 3rd century. The three nave, basilica planned structure merges with the city walls on the east side and overlooks the Tigris Valley. The central nave is covered with an elliptical dome. Four rows of piers separate the naves. The arches connecting the columns are quite high, while the other arches start from the level of the column capitals. The bathhouse section added during the Artukid period was built with a square plan, and this section had a roof supported by eight piers and connected by pointed arches. However, the roof has not survived to the present day. Today, it is used as an art gallery.
